Large tile sizes
Large tile installations has many challenges. The size and weight makes it difficult to move around and align for a one person installation and even more difficult in small areas like bathrooms and powder rooms. Large tile also require specialized tile tools. But the most important of all, is a flat and levelled floor beneath these big tiles.

Tile install preparation and underlayment

Prepping for tile installations is as important as actually installing the tiles, which is why our professional tile contractors use all the appropriate steps to ensure your floor is to perfection. First, we use a dry pack concrete to level the floor for any tile size we install. Laying tile on a crooked, wavy floor is hard and may cause your tiles to not be even and smooth. Next, we apply a Schluter®–DITRA floor application on top of the dry pack or a heated floor. This orange plastic membrane helps the longevity of the tiles by preventing them from cracking or becoming loose. While these are general recommendations, we will assess the requirements depending on the condition of the existing floor, type of tile and client’s budget.
